Sail West Coast Scotland: Largs Marina

Largs Marina, Largs, KA30 8EZ, United Kingdom | Website

Venue Description

Join us for an inclusive week's sailing from Largs Marina. We spend a week exploring the world famous sailing areas of west coast Scotland. The week is spent living aboard a 40 foot yacht. The yacht isn't adapted to be accessible but we make adjustments to ensure the trip as inclusive as possible. These include using an 8 foot ramp from the jetty to the back of the boat so people can board with ease, we bring seating for the deck to offer back support and postural support as you sail, we have audio compasses, and more simple adaptions to open this fantastic trip up to as many people as possible. The boat we charter is specifically chosen as we think it's the most accessible boat around. It has a horseshoe seating arrangement on deck so it is easy to bum shuffle to a new seat for a change of scenery or to carry out a different task. The beauty of all sailing boats is that they are designed to be sailed in rough weather so there are grab rails all over the boat, to ensure safe movement aboard. Depending on the group we may sleep on anchor some nights or we might return to a marina where there's accessible toilets. The west coast of Scotland is a world-famous cruising ground due to the dramatic scenery of the mountains coming straight up from the sea, the islands and the wildlife. You are likely to visit an island, see porpoise, possibly sea eagles and have the chance to enjoy a local whiskey. £1321pp including all food throughout the trip, accommodation aboard the boat, safety kit and qualified RYA Yachtmaster.

Accessibility

The marina is level access, with accessible toilets and restaurant. The jetty is wheelchair accessible - although at low tides access can be steep but we will be there to help. The restaurant and bar can be busy but the rest of the site is quiet. You need to walk through a car park to use the marina toilets from the boat but it is fairly quiet as only for berth holders.
