Overview

St. Paul's as an older building has worked hard to make as much accessible as possible. The experience was great and the staff extremely helpful.

Transport & Parking

4.5

The Cathedral is in the heart of the city and parking is limited. Buses, taxis, and the nearby underground provide accessible options for getting to the Cathedral.

Access

4.5

Access was very good considering the age of the building. It's not obvious but there is an accessible entrance on the South side of the Cathedral. A steward will greet you and explain that there is a fully accessible lift that will take you to the Cathedral floor and to the Crypt. You will be issued an electronic fob that allows you to use the lift independently. An audio guide is available to help you and there's also a BSL multimedia version available.

Toilets

4

There is an accessible toilet in the Crypt area adjacent to the cafe and shop. It's not easy to see but is alongside the standard toilets. Staff were happy to give directions when asked. The accessible toilet is not large but is well equipped, clean and tidy.

Staff

5

All of the staff I met at the cathedral were very friendly and helpful. The steward at the accessible entrance was particularly helpful in explaining all the facilities and the accessibility.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The Cathedral is large and very atmospheric. It's one of those must see places. There's a great cafe in the Crypt where staff will help carry things to the table if like me you can't manage. There is also a shop with a range of souvenirs.
