This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Assistance Dog, Wheelchair, Powerchair
Overview
This is a seaside cafe with a difference (or rather three): wheelchair users are welcome instead of being resented for taking up additional space; the menu is wide enough not only to cater for all dietary requirements but for all tastes too; and the chef/manager is happy to introduce himself as a disabled person.
Transport & Parking
There is a small public carpark almost immediately behind, and Blue Badge parking is available on yellow lines close by - this is as good as it gets for the Kent seaside.
Access
I can only rate this cafe for wheelchair and assistance dog users and for people with dietary requirements, but we were made very welcome, provided with everything we needed including detailed menu information, and the food was absolutely delicious.
Toilets
We didn't use the toilets while we were there. Call 01843 309839 for more information or see www.theintolerantwife.co.uk
Staff
The chef/manager was happy to introduce himself as a disabled person and made every effort to ascertain our dietary requirements and to explain the menu in detail. Water was brought immediately & without us asking for our two assistance dogs, who were made equally welcome. The other staff were friendly and helpful too.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The walls were hung with prints, paintings and photographs of the local area, all of which were for sale, and this reinforced the feeling of getting away from it all at the seaside. There were also specialist teas, preserves and sweets for sale from local suppliers, so no need to go further for souvenirs. The venue holds regular evening events, including vegan dining.
