Overview

A very enjoyable evening was spent in this cosy accessible space with gorgeous food and warm, friendly staff.

Taxi dropped off right outside. Lots of local buses.

Access

Flat access through the wide front door, with staff rushing to open and hold the door when they saw me coming on the scooter. Plenty of room - tables not squished together. Most of the seating downstairs is high seats around tables, but there's a booth at the back which I reckon you could fit six around (three on the fixed seat and the others on stools or on wheels). There are also half a dozen more tables up on the mezzanine - no lift though.

The loos are at the back, right beside the booth described above. It's a pull door to get into the loo area, but members of staff spring into action to open it if your mates are too slow. It's kind of hard to give the accessible loo itself a fair assessment, because it would be great - IF it wasn't for the large baby changing table that takes up a lot of room in there. IF the baby changing table wasn't there and IF the bin was moved under the sink, there'd be plenty of room to manoeuvre. As it is, you can drive in but then have to reverse out because there's not enough room to turn. Plenty of grab rails. No hand dryer but instead posh containers of individual paper towels in containers on the baby changing table. Nice, but a wee bit awkward to make use of without dripping everywhere. Getting out again was fine, as the door to the accessible loo opens out the way and the door to the whole loo area was light enough to open by the (subtle) means of driving the scooter at it.

Warm. polite, funny, welcoming - just generally lovely

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The place was lovely and cosy on the cold December night that we visited. It wasn't noisy, and it was great to be able to hear each other speak at a normal level. The food was delicious and we all experienced serious food envy at each other's plates. We'll just have to go back to try everything else! I particularly recommend the black pudding Scotch egg and the treacle tart with lemon curd. Yum. Extensive drinks list.
