The Wolseley Centre

A51, Stafford, ST17 0WT, United Kingdom | 01889880100 | Website

Venue Description

More than just a Visitor Centre! Set in 26 acres of former landscape gardens, The Wolseley Centre was once the ancestral home of the Wolseley family. Now managed with wildlife in mind, the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust head quarters has everything for a great day out. Our Kingfisher Café offers hot and cold meals and snacks, plus hot drinks and cakes.

Accessibility

There are a network of accessible footpaths weaving around the grounds - ideal for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. There is an accessible toilet in the main building and a mobility scooter can be hired (call us to book). The Learning Hub (our educational building set a short distance from the main centre) features a fully accessible toilet with an adult-sized changing table. There is also an accessible pathway leading from the learning hub to the outdoor classroom area at the top of the hill, where many of our activities and events take place.

Accessible Performances

Some of our larger events, such as the Wildchild Festival, allow free entry for carers.

Toilets

Main visitor centre toilet: The entrance to the centre is via two large sliding doors which are very wide allowing ample room for both manual and power wheelchairs to enter. The disabled toilet is a short distance from this door with no steps and features a wide door, an emergency pull cord and grab rails within the room itself. Learning Hub disabled toilet (for use when attending events in the hub only): The toilet in the Learning Hub is accessed via the rear doors from a surfaced pathway (not full width but double doors so can be opened to allow access). There are no steps. There is one fully accessible toilet with grab rails, an emergency pull cord and an adult-sized changing table.
