Good access but poor lifts

We visited on a day when it was full. The building is U shaped with a street path running through the middle of the U. Entrance is through a second door on the front (top of one leg of the U) which leads directly to the lift. You then descend into a lobby area, walk to the other leg of the U (across the bottom of the U) and ascend one floor to the ground floor start of the museum. Each floor (4) deals with an aspect of his life and we found then easy to go around, to get close to the paintings etc. Despite being full, crowds were only impossible at one painting (one of the Sunflowers). There was explanatory text at most paintings, we found the text size a bit small for someone in a wheelchair who cannot get very close and also the font a bit faint (the Dutch version was in bold). The restaurant and shops were disabled friendly. There are insufficient disabled toilets and we found only one lift which could cope with a wheelchair - queues were long and the lift was slow. Staff were very helpful, carer gets a free ticket. We saw everything and it took about 3 hours to do so. A fantastic place to visit - very recommended (despite insufficient toilets).
