Overview

The most horrific toilet experience ever - but also the best safari experience ever and the dinosaurs were fantastic.

Transport & Parking

5

Blue badge parking a short walk from the walk around section was fine - smooth flat surface to get out. I don't recall hash lines to the rear of my car for safe rear entrance/exit.

Access

5

The safari was good in that it had an' off road path' and a smooth ride drive through. Inside the park I drove around fine - but the lemur woodland walk through has bumpy paths and hills - but no problem for my power chair. The rest of the park was fine to see things and get around. A large distance to walk from the front animal area, through the leisure/fairground area to the final animal sector (smooth but long and a hill in the middle). I could see all the animals clearly and the lighting was good - even in the bat cave! Best safari I have been on.

Toilets

0.5

The park invested 2.5 million in it's new Living Dinosaur attraction but spent nil money (from the three toilets I visited) in making toilet facilities accessible. The toilets in the car park do not have support rails each side nor much space. The same goes for the ones at the reptile house. The cafe toilet I used was dangerous, missing many support rails (and the one provided was the wrong length and height to be useful to hold onto), the toilet seat was child size. I nearly fell on the floor. Hand towels were not reachable from a wheelchair.

Staff

0.5

Staff helpfully pointed me to the toilets but when I complained on return home, the park did not reassure me they would do anything to change the toilet provision this season. I recommended they meet the UK standards and also look at changing places because the floor was disgusting to lay down on.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Such a shame that the toilet provision lets the park down. I would not be able to return if all their toilets are this inaccessible to power chair users with assistants. Staff said the middle section had toilet improvements - but did not specify accessibility. Without knowing for sure I would not / could not return.
