Overview

We visited the venue to see the show ‘I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical’. The building is old, with decent access into the building itself but not so great access inside the auditorium. This was due to there being only one door for entry into the stalls (auditorium right), the rows of seats being too close together for a wheelchair or crutches to go through, and the seats on the sides were not secured to the floor making it difficult to get up from them as they would move instead of staying steady against the weight of a person also resulting in tipping when trying to sit down. The front few rows were very close to the stage, anyone sitting there had to crane their neck up in order to watch.

Transport & Parking

0.5

We drove in one car, with a blue badge holder as part of the group. There’s very little parking surrounding the theatre. A couple of side streets with some ‘pay by phone’ parking spots that had a 2-hour max stay, and the rest were resident/permit holder spaces. We attended the show on a Sunday, and most of the parking restrictions were only Monday-Saturday, but would have hugely struggled if we had attended on any other day. The entrance of the theatre was down a pedestrian-only side street, meaning there was a limit on how close we could get to the theatre in our car; with our lucky parking space, we were only a 1-minute walk away. However, for some, this still might be too far.

Access

3

There were ramps throughout the theatre, both leading into the theatre itself (via one door) and the corridor leading to from the box office to the stalls of the theatre (as well as the disabled toilet and women's toilet). Though only the ground floor is accessible, the rest of the theatre is only available via flights of stairs.

Toilets

3

One accessible toilet, roomy but not equipped with anything other than a handrail near the toilet, a red cord.

Staff

They were lovely, accommodating, and more than willing to help us with our access needs, both when booking, and when arriving. Going so far as to move our seats free of charge on the day, due to a change in our access needs. We had booked seats in the balcony as this was the price band we could afford, and on the day we asked if we could move to the stalls as this was the step-free access and they were more than happy to sort this for us.
