Overview
It would've been 4 out of 5 if it hadn't been for the totally unacceptable accessible toilet situation
Transport & Parking
There's a horrible steep sideways camber on the dropped kerb on the corner directly outside. Taxi can drop off on the flat on East Market Street, but for pick-up probably best to cross the road to the Waverley Court side.
Access
The dining area is upstairs, so if you can't do stairs you're directed to a tiny black lift which doubles as a dumbwaiter between the kitchen and dining room. There's a bit of a lip to get out upstairs so I had to give it some oomph on the scooter. The lift mechanism makes a loud hissing noise as it moves - but as we were well lubricated, having come from Edinburgh Gin across the road, we accepted what we thought were bound to be our last moments but actually made it upstairs without the expected grisly fate.
Toilets
My (able bodied) pal asked a member of staff where the loos were and was told in no uncertain terms "NO DISABLED TOILET". When she came back from the loos she reported that she had in fact seen an 'accessible' loo, but that it was filled up with boxes of wine. Totally unacceptable and very disappointing.
Staff
Pleasant, if a little overbearing. They don't seem to have their own sections, so we were asked the same questions multiple times by different people. One massive red flag for me was that, while I was transferring from my scooter to the dining chair, without warning or being asked, a member of staff decided to 'help' by grabbing me under the armpits and trying to lift me up. Nope. Not acceptable.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Food was decent without being particularly exciting.
