Venue Description

Aberdeen Science Centre is one of Aberdeen’s top visitor attractions and offers the perfect day out for the whole family. Where else can you dock a spaceship, chat to a robot, and have your mind blown by science demos!? The centre has something for all ages and is split into six zones: Energy; Space; Life Sciences; Test it; Make it; and a special area for under-6s, where science is brought to life. Over 65 interactive exhibits await visitors, including The OPITO Theatre of Energy - the UK's first immersive experience of its kind! A day out for the whole family, one not to be missed!

Accessibility

- Free parking onsite with bays marked out for blue badge holders -Level access at entry and to reception and the gift shop - Low level counter payment points - Changing place toilet (own sling required) There is a lift which can be accessed from the main reception foyer. This take you to both floors - level 1 and to the mezzanine floor on level 2. The lift will hold one wheelchair user and one other person at a time. If you require assistance when using the lift please speak to a member of staff. Wheelchair access throughout with ramps for ease of access - Sensory Space We know that a science centre can be overwhelming at times, that’s why we have created a calm and relaxing area designed to help visitors that might be feeling overwhelmed or overstimulated whilst exploring Aberdeen Science Centre. The space includes dark dens, a weighted lap buddy, and a variety of sensory fidgets, light-ups and ear defenders to be used within the space. -Sensory Box We have a sensory box filled with fiddle toys and some ear defenders, which you can borrow to take around the centre. If you would like to borrow anything from this box, you will be able to collect these from reception. -Visual Guide available on our website for pre-visit preparation - Carers Ticket If you have additional support needs and require assistance from a carer during your visit, we offer free Carer Tickets. To receive a Carers Ticket you will be required to bring proof of eligibility, in the form of an Access Card or official letter. Carer tickets are currently only available for purchase at reception, not online. Without proof of eligibility, standard tickets prices will apply.
