I visited the GPO and did not know there was a large museum exhibit in the original building. Fantastic and would love to come back soon!

Transport & Parking

I came by foot/wheels so not sure about parking options. Buses, the LUAS and taxis go up and down O'Connell Street often.

The GPO is level access (no front steps like Padraig Pearse apparently said). The modern post office is to the left hand side and the right hand side of the building is the reception to the museum and gift shop where you buy tickets for the exhibits. There is seating throughout the exhibit and accessible toilets are downstairs. There is a lift to all floors which is big enough for a power chair and one or two other people. Some parts of the exhibit are quite dark and music/voices talking and shouting can be heard in some parts. Some content heard can be quite disturbing so that is something to be wary of if need be.

There are accessible toilets at the start and end of the exhibit and next to the cafe. These had grab rails and enough turning space. No Changing Places toilets.

The assistant at the gift shop desk was helpful in explaining how to get around and helped me when in the shop.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Make sure to take note of the columns outside the GPO. You can still see bullet holes from the 1916 Easter Rising. This is a must for history fans or anyone interested when in Dublin.
