The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria (AGGV) is a public art gallery committed to the celebration of art. With vision, leadership and scholarship we will engage and inspire diverse audiences through exhibitions, interpretation, and stewardship of the collection. The AGGV fills a fundamental role in the community - it contributes to its health, reflects its values and is a demonstration of its significance. As an essential part of life in the community the AGGV must to do more than just present great exhibitions. It must build audiences that see the institution as a place that is relevant to their lives. It must be trusted as a cultural organization that will present significant exhibitions and events and be a reflection of how the community sees its place in the world.

Accessibility

VISITING THE GALLERY  Indigenous peoples receive free admission.  Discounted admission for military and their families.  Service animals are welcome.  An unsupervised coat room and a limited number of locked cabinets are available for storing backpacks and large bags.  Manual wheelchair and walker are available free of charge.  Staff have been trained through the Google Translate App.  The first Tuesday of every month is admission by donation.  Free tours are available on Saturdays and Sundays with admission.  Sensory kits are available free of charge. Kits include a backpack with noise reduction headphones, sunglasses, fidgets, and a timer.  Our front washrooms are available to use without paid admission. . GETTING TO THE GALLERY Accessible Entrance The main entrance is wheelchair accessible with a ramp on the left side of the entrance. There is one set of power doors located at the left side of the entrance at the top of the ramp. MOVING THROUGH THE GALLERY There is a ramp leading up to all exhibitions areas. Please note that the upper-level administration offices are not open to the public or wheelchair accessible. Although there is a floor plan available, exhibitions spaces may be hard to navigate. Staff are available for assistance or guidance. Food and Beverage Food and beverages are not allowed in the exhibition spaces. An accessible water fountain is available in the room beside the coat check to the right of the lobby. If you wish, you can leave and re-enter the Gallery later during the same day. There are several restaurants and coffee shops a few blocks away on Cook and Fort Streets. Staff are available to give suggestions and directions. Seating Wooden benches without arms are available for seating inside the exhibitions spaces.

Toilets

Four gender-neutral single-stall bathrooms are available. All washrooms are wheelchair accessible but do not have power doors. Only one washroom has a baby change table, a safety grab bar, and soap and paper towels at a lower height. All washrooms are accessed by ramps.

Service animals are welcomed inside the building. There are outdoor green spaces for service animals about 10 feet outside our front entrance outside in the parking lot.
