Venue Description

City Halls/Old Fruitmarket is a historic Victorian building, managed by Glasgow Life, delivering high quality musical performance and education to visitors to the city. The venue lies in the heart of the Merchant City, Glasgow’s arts and culture quarter. The Grand Hall is a lavish formal auditorium with world-renowned acoustics, raked seating and balcony. The perfect setting for music concerts, formal awards ceremonies and presentations with a capacity of 1036 seats. Other rooms include the Recital Room which can host conferences for up to 120. The Club Room is ideal for meetings and receptions for 15-50 people. The Old Fruitmarket is a versatile venue which can host product launches, awards ceremonies and trade fairs as well as theatre events, banquets, concerts, club nights, ceilidhs, fashion shows and weddings, with up to a 1400 person capacity. The venue hosts the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Music Centre and Glasgow Education Services as tenants.

Accessibility

There is level access from Candleriggs (and Albion Street) directly to the venue. The main doors open automatically. The doors are double width. Lift access is provided to all public floors within the venue via two public lifts - these are fitted with a voice announcement system and tactile markings. There are seven floors in the building with 5 accessible to the public. There is a wheelchair available to borrow – please contact Box Office 0141 353 8000.

Second Floor – 4 sq. m, sink height 70 cm Third Floor – 3 sq. m, sink height 70 cm Fifth Floor – 3 sq. m, sink height 70 cm All these toilets have alarm cords. All doors are sliding doors with twist lock. The doors are locked by a twist lock. There are lateral transfer spaces.
