Accessibility

There are access ramps or lifts to all our visitor facilities. A “smoothway” provides a smoother alternative to the cobbles for wheelchairs and buggies. Wheelchairs are available for hire from 10am until 4pm for a £10 deposit which is refunded when the wheelchair is returned. If you would like to book a wheelchair in advance, please contact us the day before you visit to check availability. There are disabled toilets located at the Red Lion Pub, Assembly Rooms and at the Wakebridge Tram Stop. We do not have a changing places toilet, but for changing of older children and adults, please ask staff for access to the First Aid hut. If you have any specific needs, please ring ahead and we will try to help. Evacuation signage is in every building with audible warnings in the Great Exhibition Hall. Should evacuation be necessary, fire marshals will assist. All dogs on leads are welcome, but only assistance dogs can be accommodated in the catering establishments and indoor play area.
