Filey Dams Nature Reserve

5 Barden Place, Filey, YO14 0DR, United Kingdom | Website

Venue Description

As the last remaining freshwater marsh in the area, Filey Dams is a magnet for migratory birds. Not just that: it’s home to a variety of insects, amphibians, small mammals and plants. Look for tree sparrows on your short walk through the copse to the boardwalk, and on to a pond-dipping platform, where dragonflies skim the water and water voles hide. All three British species of newt can be found here – smooth, palmate and great crested. There is wheelchair access to the main hide and the pond dipping platform.

Accessibility

Paths to the first hide and pond dipping platform are flat and either surfaced or wooden boardwalks. The first hide is fully accessible for wheelchairs, as is the pond-dipping platform.
