Fibre and Fika: Colour
In this workshop you will explore the possibilities of colour, yarn and the art of dyeing wool.
Colour is a crucial component of Hannah Ryggen’s compositions; the vibrant shades were most often created by natural dye using foraged fauna local to her Norwegian island home.
Starting with a short presentation from artist Janet Farnsworth, participants will then create dyes to see first hand how the process can transform raw fleece into colourful wool.
This workshop will be accompanied by Fika, the Swedish tradition of coffee, tea and pastries shared with others, allowing groups the space for informal chat and skill sharing.
