Too cramped for easy shopping in a wheelchair but friendly staff

This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Powerchair

Overview

The shop is too cramped for wheelchair users. Most aisles are too narrow to pass along in a wheelchair. You'll find yourself asking staff to fetch you things, they are helpful and willing, but it's far from ideal.

Transport & Parking

The nearest tube station is Sloane Square, which is not step-free, but does have escalators from the westbound (but NOT the eastbound) platform to street level, so if you can get out of your wheelchair and take it up an escalator, this station may be an option. Loads of buses go along the King's Road. I wouldn't attempt to park nearby.

Access

The entrance to the shop is step-free but within the shop the aisles are so narrow, and there are so many rickety display units crammed between the fixed display units, that it's practically impossible to get around to hunt for whatever you want to buy. I nearly accidentally demolished a couple of display units with my powerchair. This layout is all very thoughtless and silly, and wheelchair users certainly haven't been taken into account.

Toilets

This is not the sort of shop where you'd expect to find a toilet. I didn't find one.

Staff

3

The staff are friendly, and willing to help in any way possible, and to fetch items you want to look at or buy. But they have lost two stars for designing such a cramped and wheelchair-unfriendly layout.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

I will be very reluctant to visit this branch again if I can wait until I'm near a more wheelchair-friendly branch.
