Overview

Heading into St Pancras Station to catch a Eurostar to Amsterdam, we found the station to be a fascinating array of busyness, shops, a piano or two, and places to eat.

Certainly a lot of options for trains. We have travelled on the HS1 and the Eurostar from here. The HS1 was great with good assistance for getting on as a wheelchair user but you must book in advance. The Eurostar was fabulous as we had assistance from the point of arrival, we were 'extracted' from the queue and taken a separate way to check in, security, then onto Border Control. Once the formalities were over we were escorted to a designated waiting area. A few minutes before our train was due to be loaded we were collected and taken to our coach on the train. A Eurostar train manager introduced themselves, they had the ramp waiting for me to board. We were show to our seats and my wheelchair space. It had loads of room for me, a handy luggage rack nearby and only a short distance from the accessible loo. My 'seat' position was by the window and I was able to get amazing views of the scenery as we headed for Amsterdam.

As we had booked assistance we found that we were expected and someone was immediately on hadn't to help us. I'm a wheelchair user and my travel companion is blind. St Pancras staff were helpful and once we reached the Eurostar terminal we were met and guided through the procedures to board.

The general accessible loos on the station concourse aren't great. The accessible loo in the Eurostar terminal was good and the on board accessible on the loo was spacious, plenty of grab rails, and room to turn my wheelchair.

Staff

The Eurostar staff were excellent. One of the best experiences I have ever had travelling by train.
