Overview

Had a fantastic few days stay at Stirling Court Hotel. Situated on Stirling University Campus, with spectacular views of the Wallace Monument the venue was really good. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and they catered for my complicated diet without any fuss. The room was spacious, accessible and well designed. I would definitely stay again.

Transport & Parking

3

While there are quite a few disabled parking spots these filled up very quickly making parking difficult. Staff at reception however found us somewhere to park until a space became available and did try to help out with this. There is public transport to the city (bus) from very near the hotel which can be used. We also saw quite a few wheelchair accessible taxis in the area and the reception staff had information on these.

Access

4

The conference rooms, bar, restuantant and accessible rooms are all on the ground floor. There was plenty of signage to help find your way round and the reception staff were very helpful at giving directions. I stayed in an accessible room and there was extra space for the wheelchair, emergency call buttons and red cord, roll in shower with shower seat and plenty of grab rails and bars in the bathroom. The hotel staff made our room into a twin room for me as there was an option to have it either as a double or a twin. There is plenty of seating around the hotel- along corridors, in the reception area etc. Only problems we found was the reception desk counter is very high which wasn’t very practical for filling in forms while in a wheelchair. There are two accessible toilets in the main part of the hotel.

Toilets

4.5

There are two accessible toilets in the main part of the hotel which were spacious and well adapted. In the hotel room the toilet had grab rails, a lower mirror and sink and emergency red cord. The shower was a roll in shower with grab rails and shower chair. The shower could be detached making it easier for a PA to assist. The bathroom was very large with plenty of space.

Staff

4.5

Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. When we had problems parking they helped us find solutions. The bar and restaurant staff in particular were amazing. I can only eat small amounts at a time and have lots of food intolerances as a result of this our waiter spoke to the chef to find out what I could eat and offered to make up something specifically for me. As I can’t eat large amounts in one go they made up snacks for the afternoon that I could have in my room even though we did not request this as they were worried I would be hungry. They also catered for someone in the group on a soft diet with no problems.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

I will definitely stay here again. This has been one of the best accessible hotel experiences I have had to date with staff going out there way to help and ensuring my stay was as comfortable and accessible as possible.
