Overview

This was my first visit to a bar/restaurant type venue since lockdown. I definitely felt Covid Confident here!

Transport & Parking

I came by bus which stops right outside the main entrance of Akva. The outdoor garden area is under the tunnell from the bus stop and at the back. There is not any parking that I could see nearby.

Access

The area around the bar is very flat and it is next to the canal so areas are ramped and spaced out. There are benches and also tables which I could sit at without getting out my wheelchair. Some of the seating area is covered so when it started to rain a bit we could still enjoy our visit.

Toilets

I did not go this time but the staff did tell me that accessible toilets are inside and near the bar area. No Changing Places nearby.

Staff

Very helpful. There was one lady standing at the entrance to explain Covid precautions (described in next section) and she made us feel at ease. There was also a lovely man who worked the small bar area and helped carry drinks to the table and move chairs safely.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Very well sign posted area and tables are laid out to ensure social distancing. There is also a one way system to order drinks. There is a lot of signage on the floor and on surfaces to explain where to walk and how to move around. I think having a staff member on front helped as she could verbally explain and answer any questions we had. There were also multiple hand sanitiser machines dotted around the place. Some nearer the floor on benches, some on tables and some on higher tables. These machines were non touch so I felt safe and clean entering and leaving the garden. There is also lines marked outside the garden where people should queue (pictured). I’m very much looking forward to going back.
