Venue Description

Discover Buxton Tours want to provide a great experience for everyone whatever their ages or abilities. Before you arrive: planning your visit. Please phone and speak to any of us at Discover Buxton headquarters if you have any concerns and we are more than happy to help. We customise our tours and adapt to the needs of our audience. Our tours are a feast for the senses and we endeavor to paint pictures of the places we visit.

Accessibility

Assistance dogs Assistance dogs are welcome on the tram or on any of our tours. Wheelchairs If you want somewhere to store your wheelchair or scooter we can provide safe storage whilst you are on the tram .Unfortunately the tram does not have wheelchair access. Chairs can be brought to the tram steps to allow easier access for people with limited mobility. There are two shallow steps and a strong rail to assist with access. Chairs are then taken and stored in our tram office approximately 30 feet away. The tram stops at two locations on the tour and the guide’s commentary can still be heard if guests are unable or do not wish to alight. We have two suitable walking tours. The Accessible geology tour is an hour long walk through the Pavilion Gardens .All paths are metalled and predominately flat with slight incline in places. The history tour takes you into three places all with flat or ramped access and otherwise follows town pavement with dropped kerbs at road crossings. Mary Queen of Scots reenactment This living history experience takes place inside of the Old hall Hotel.Access is on the flat and guests are seated for most of the performance. Please enquire about our other tours. We have microphones but at present do not have a loop system. We are only a small business but we are big on helping all people to enjoy the town and its history and heritage.

Toilets

There are several disabled toilets within the Pavilion Gardens building, and also the car park and kiosk area. The car park and kiosk toilets are accessible by use of a Radar key. During our walking tours the Pavilion Gardens, The Old Hall Hotel and the Devonshire Dome have accessible facilities.
