Overview
The staff really do make the book festival one of the most brilliant events in Edinburgh. My wife and I were greeted as we approached the Baillie Gifford venue and guided us the whole way. This was our first time attending in person since the move to Edinburgh Art College so I will start with the positives before coming back to the event. There are ramps leading to every part of the festival. There is a massive changing places toilet as well as a roomy accessible toilet. In the book shop, there is always a member of staff on hand to grab a book for you and I was delighted to be moved to the front of the queue to have my book signed. There is a range of food and drinks available as well as plenty of spots to sit and read. My complaint relates to an event at the Baillie Gifford venue. The whole front row is for wheelchair users but I must have purchased my ticket too late to be positioned here. I was about ten rows back and the seats in front are raised so I was about 2 inches shorter than everyone in front of me. I couldn’t see a thing. I would have been able to see more if I had watched it at home.
