Venue Description

Longsight Library & Learning Centre. The library is open to all members of the public. We offer a large selection of books, free computer use and free Wi-Fi. We have tables and chairs around the library that can be used to study etc. There are a limited number of charging points around the library for laptops and phones. We are a social space. We have a children's area and as part of our children's offer there are toys in the library and games that can be borrowed from the library reception to use in the library. During the winter months we are currently running as Warm Hubs and customers can help themselves to a free hot drink on staffed days. (Not Fridays) There is often something going on in the library such as Lego Clubs, Storytime, Exhibitions, Adult Craft Group, Age Friendly Group etc Mondays & Tuesdays: 9 - 8pm Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 9 - 5pm Fridays are self-service day.

Accessibility

The Library entrance is flat with wide doors that automatically open as you approach. Once inside the library the spacing between bookshelves are wheelchair accessible. The Lift is wheelchair accessible, controls are within easy reach. Our main reception and the community meeting rooms have induction loops.

Toilets

Flat access into the disabled toilets on both floors. The toilets have grab handles and there are also grab handles y the sinks. The sinks have easy to turn handles.

A large number of staff have attended Autism awareness Training.

Nearest off lead area for assistance dogs is Crowcroft Park approximately 0.5miles up the A6 towards Stockport. The first entrance has steep steps but the second entrance a little further up the road has flat access.

We do not have assistance dog facilities such as toileting area or water bowls.
