Venue Description

The Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell is in the heart of the Norwich Lanes, and tells the stories of the city, from Medieval to modern day. There are ten galleries over two floors to explore. Find out about what industries put the city on the map, from shoes, to shawls to chocolate. Hear the stories of real people's working lives.

Accessibility

There is a lift from the main entrance (automatic doors) to the ground floor. The lift can accommodate most wheelchairs, but unfortunately cannot accommodate large powered scooters. We have two wheelchairs which can be used by visitors. There are two floors, with a lift to both floors. Our plan for safely evacuating visitors with mobility difficulties in the event of an emergency is by transfer to an evac chair. Audio/visual presentations are subtitled. There are written transcripts of all audio presentations. There is a hearing loop fitted to the main reception desk. Companion notes for visitors with a visual impairment and their friends and carers are available. Amongst the displays are several objects to touch.
