Overview

When entering the Odeon there are automatic doors at the rear access and alongside stairs there are ramps on both the ground and first floor, to get to the ticket office and refreshment shop. To get onto the first floor there is lift access, but due to there only being stairs there is no access for those with limited mobility or Wheelchair users on the second floor for screen 7. The lift is not suitable for large Wheelchairs making visiting this cinema very difficult for some.

Transport & Parking

5

There is a Car park directly behind the cinema, with disabled parking. However getting a bus is difficult even though the cinema is situated in the town center the buses do not go down the hill to the cinema and are a 5-10 minute walk away.

Access

1.5

For the front entrance there are not automatic doors however the rear view entrance has an automatic door, both are situated on level floor. There is limited accessibility to screen seven due to only having stair access. The lift to the other screens also is not suitable for larger or longer Wheelchairs. However there were two screens on the ground floor which were accessible for Wheelchair users and those with limited availability however these did not have handrails down the aisles. There is no where where you can stop and rest from the front entrance to the ground floor screens.

Toilets

1

There are grab rails in one of three cubicles, with very narrow entrances to the toilet on both floors making it very difficult to fit a Wheelchair through. There would be no room for a carer to assist in the cubicles.

Staff

5

There were staff about everywhere who were eager to assist and point you in the right direction, assistance which is needed to get to the 3, 4 and 5.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

I would not recommend this to a Wheelchair user with a large chair as there is only access to two screens on the ground floor and there are only double wheelchair bays so it is best to book in advance. You can use a CEA Card at the Odeon which gets your carer a free ticket.

I have to say in my experience the lift to the first floor where most of the screens are is very often out of order.
