Venue Description

The visual impact and beauty of the award winning Quaker Tapestry Museum inspires all those who visit. Often compared with the Bayeux Tapestry, this textile masterpiece of storytelling is a celebration of life, people and events across the centuries. A myriad of stories are revealed from within the captivating and colourful embroidery panels.

Accessibility

With step-free access from our Stramongate entrance, and full access for wheelchair users, we positively welcome individuals and groups with specific needs. Assistance dogs are welcome. We have a mobility scooter on site for visitors with mobility problems to use within the Museum. We have audio guides and an introductory film so visually impaired visitors can expect a vivid description of the panels. Our accessible toilet is on the ground floor with a doorway wide enough for an electric wheelchair, grab rails and an emergency pull cord.

All our staff are trained Dementia Friends.

Assistance dog facilities

Assistance dog exercise facilities

We have a walled lawned garden with gates which can be closed whilst your assistance dog is off the lead. Dog owners are responsible for monitoring the gates as the garden opens onto a busy road.

Other assistance dog facilities

Visitors with assistance dogs can use the garden should their dog need the toilet and we provide water bowls at the entrances to the building.
