Overview

There is level access to the building however the doors themselves are not automatic. There is a slow, decreasing gradient on entering the building which allows easy access to the bar and dining area. There is level access to the decking area at the back of the premises and there is a lift available for public use. Toilets are easy to access on upper floor and there is a baby changing situated on the bottom floor near the lift. There are two sets of stairs with railings at either end of the bar, however there are a lot of stairs.

Transport & Parking

0

The venue does not have its own car parking facilities, there is no designated parking spaces for blue badge holders and there is no dropping or pick up point available.

Access

2.5

Although level access in and out of the building is ensured by the permanent ramp, the non-automatic doors will be difficult for wheelchair users and older adults as they are heavy and also 'pull' operated, they are however double width. The lift available was not specifically to aid disability, and as a result there are no mirrors to aid reversing and the same door is used to enter and exit the lift. Unfortunately there are also no braille markings or audio announcers making it unsafe for users to travel alone.

Toilets

4

Firstly the toileting facility was not solely designed for disabled use, and is unisex. It has level access and there is grab rails available, transfer on the left is available also however there is not a flush on this side. The emergency pull cord alarm is situated to the left of the toilet however it does not reach the floor. Mirrors available are placed at an angle for better use and the sink is reachable from the toilet. There is no key needed to use this facility.

Staff

5

The staff were lovely and made sure me and my brother (power chair user) were well looked after. They offered to take our order at the table and brought food and drinks to us, as I could not leave him on his own to order at the bar. They were very friendly and always kept on top of our service. They were very understanding of my brother and made and effort to interact with him instead of assuming I would answer for him which is refreshing.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The menu is not clearly printed and there are no other versions of the menu available to customers, i.e. large print, pictures, braille. Another downfall to this venue is the seating and table facilities, some tables are not able to fit wheelchairs under them as the table leg blocks the wheels and some chairs are fixed to the ground. There is no lower counter to aid service and food and drink must be ordered from the bar, however as stated in the 'staff' section they are more then happy to bring food, drinks and the bill to the table.
