Venue Description

Live entertainment • Creative opportunities • A stage for local talent • More than a theatre, we’re a home for the arts in Hayes! The Beck Theatre is part of Parkwood Theatres. We’re based in Hayes in Hillingdon, and have been here since 1977, and have a total capacity of 600. We offer a wide selection of shows, from comedy to tributes to dance to drama. We also produce our own Pantomime and a Summer Youth Project each year. We also have a cinema screen in our auditorium, and we regularly screen films and also host bi-monthly Dementia Friendly Screenings of films. We’re also able to host a lot of events in our Foyer, including dining events, comedy nights, Art Therapy Workshops and Bring Your Own Baby Comedy.

Accessibility

There is a small set of steps as well as a ramp providing access to the theatre. At the top of the ramp, you’ll find a set of automatic double doors, with manual doors located at the top of the steps. Inside the foyer, you’ll find our Box Office, which is equipped with a hearing loop system. There is also a comfortable seating area where you can enjoy a drink or snack before the show. Upon entering the auditorium from the ground floor, you’ll find two corridors leading down either side of the theatre. The first four rows (A, B, C, and D) are flat, with the seating rising from row E onwards. Each subsequent row is elevated by two steps. Wheelchair accessible seating is available at the ends of rows B and C, but must be booked through our Ticketing team by calling 0343 310 0044. Additionally, we reserve seats in areas with fewer steps. For those entering the auditorium from the back, there are 24 steps to climb before entering. You will enter at row P and can proceed up or down the steps depending on your seat location. The auditorium is equipped with a hearing loop system, which can be used by switching your hearing aid to the ‘T’ setting. We can offer a free carer ticket if you are in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Attendance Allowance or a Visual Impairment Certificate. You’ll need to show us a copy of this letter. We will make a note of this on your account, and it will be there for whenever you require a carer to accompany you.

Accessible Performances

The Beck Theatre offer a Relaxed Performance and a Signed Performance for our annual Christmas Pantomime, which will usually be a matinee performance on a weekday. If you visit our website, you will be able to find what the show is for this year and when each of these performances are. We also organise Touch Tours for certain performances, and the details of these can be found on our website. If you would like to organise a touch tour for a performance, please email us and we’ll do our best to organise one in accordance with the visiting company.

Toilets

The theatre has both male and female toilets, as well as an accessible toilet. All of these are situated on the ground floor in the foyer. There are four cubicles and five urinals in the men’s, and eight cubicles in the women’s toilets. Our accessible toilet is a large single cubicle, which has a hand dryer (which can be switched off if requested), hand towels and a sink. There are grab rails in the toilets as well as easy turn taps and locks. There is enough space for a manual or power wheelchair. All of our toilets also have baby changing facilities in them.
