Safer Toilets from Euan's Guide logo
What is the problem?
Red emergency cords in accessible toilets are a safety feature. They are meant to hang freely to the floor so they can be reached by someone sitting or lying on the ground.
Unfortunately, the red emergency cord is all too often tied up, shortened or missing – putting disabled people at risk when they are unable to reach the cord to call for help.
What do our Red Cord Cards do?
Our Red Cord Cards are:
- pocket-sized and splash-proof
- easy to slide onto red emergency cords
- printed with clear text that explains why the cord must hang freely
"This red emergency cord must hang freely to the floor. If it does not, it may prevent a disabled person from asking for help.”
We supply 10 Red Cord Cards to help you make a real difference in your community.
With your help, we are working to make every accessible toilet safe – one card at a time.
