Overview

I visited Bidborough House to attend my covid booster, so I was only on the ground floor, but I did notice lifts. Very accessible and extremely helpful staff. Please be aware that when I went on the government website to book my booster, they asked about my access needs. I ticked that I required step free and accessible toilet and it said that there were no venues available. When I unticked the access box, it came up with a long list of venue, including Bidborough House. Having visited I can confirm that it is wheelchair accessible and there is step free access.

Transport & Parking

The building is very close to King's Cross tube station which has step free access. There are plenty of buses that go along the Euston Road that stop close by. The bus stop you want is the British Library. Bidborough House, is one road back from Euston Road.

Access

There are 2 entrances. Mabledon Place entrance is step free from the pavement. The door was open when I arrived. Then once inside there is a small flight of stairs, with 4 steps and handrails on both sides. There is also a platform lift. From Bidborough Street, there is a ramp or steps up to the entrance. The covid vaccination centre is on the ground floor and once inside it is step free. There are a series of desks, check in desk when you arrive to make sure you've come for a vaccine, then one where they take your details and then one where they do a short health check. Then you go for you vaccine and then into a waiting room area for 15 minutes after to make sure you don't have any side effects.

Toilets

I didn't use the toilets while I was there, but there are accessible toilets. I met another disabled person when I was there and she told me she had used the accessible toilet.

Staff

Staff are very helpful and supportive. There was no queue so moved through the different sections quickly. I raised with staff that on the government website when I went to book, Bidborough House did not show up as being accessible to my needs. They are going to follow this up.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

It felt very covid safe as the public were socially distancing and wearing masks. Very positive and accessible experience.
