Overview

happened upon this location on my way to Snow Hill Railway Station, and it was a pleasant distraction. Officially known as St Philip's Cathedral Churchyard, and locally called Pigeon Park, the area offers a comfortable place to stop to eat your lunchtime meal deal, feed the pigeons or simply admire the Cathedral.

Transport & Parking

4

There are several on-street spaces on Church Street. There are no accessible parking spaces, but if you have a rear-loading WAV, one space backs onto a bus stop and another onto a taxi bay, which may be a good option. There's a bus stop at the Colmore Row entrance where the 9 Platinum, 12, 12A, 13, 13A, 126, X8 Platinum and X10 Platinum services operate. Snow Hill Railway Station is 180 metres away and Bull Street tram stop is 140 metres away.

Access

3

There are six separate entrances to the gardens, with a few branching paths and level access throughout, which is much appreciated. The gardens have large level slabs on the walkways, which are smooth to traverse when using a wheelchair or mobility aid. Benches are placed throughout the gardens, offering plenty of places to stop, though many people were content sitting on the grass. There are no other noticeable accessibility features in place, but it's a lovely park.

Toilets

0

The Cathedral has an accessible toilet, but it's only available during services and not for public use. There are a few bars, restaurants and a McDonald's nearby which may have accessible toilets. The accessible toilet at Snow Hill Station is a bit of a challenge to get to. The most direct route is via the Livery Street entrance. If you enter from that side, go to the end of the corridor and take the lift up to Platform 3. It's much quicker than going through the main entrance.
