Overview
This review is separate from my earlier review of the station and will focus solely on the Changing Places toilet. Please see my earlier review for a more general overview. You'll find the toilet just past Leon, sharing a corridor with the Excess Baggage Company. It has many of the features you'd expect from a Changing Places toilet, although one of them wasn’t working during my visit.
Transport & Parking
I didn’t visit the on-site car park, but I understand there are 34 spaces in total, including three EV charging bays provided by APCOA Parking. The APCOA site mentions accessible parking, though it doesn’t specify how many bays are available. There’s a drop-off point at the ‘drop & go’ area by the Hill Street entrance. The taxi rank is on Navigation Street, accessible via the Stephenson Street / Victoria Square exit. Being centrally located, there’s no shortage of bus routes nearby. You’ll also find a tram stop just outside the station, although it can get a bit crowded, as the tram platform takes up quite a bit of space.
Access
I found the disabled access to be pretty good overall. The station has level, step-free access throughout. Where there are stairs, rails are provided, and tactile paving is in place at the top and bottom. There are plenty of places to sit in the foyer, at the bridge, or in the accessibility lounge. The lifts have Braille buttons inside and out, and there are hearing loops operating inside the lifts as well. The ticket office and waiting areas have induction loops. Signage is clear, and despite the busy nature of the station, I was able to find my way around easily. The accessibility lounge is spacious, with a lowered counter and an induction loop.
Toilets
The door to the Changing Places toilet requires a RADAR key to access, and the door opens outwards. The room is spacious, as you’d expect from a Changing Places toilet, and features a ceiling track hoist, an adjustable changing bed, and a shower, though it was out of order during my visit. I hope it's been fixed by the time of this review. The toilet has space for both left-side and right-side transfers, with a contrasting toilet seat and grab rails. The red emergency cord is on the left when seated, but it hangs a little too short to reach the floor. The small sink has a lever-style tap, blue rails on either side, and a nearby wall-mounted hand dryer. I didn't see a colostomy shelf in this toilet
