There is currently no visitor access to the museum building and the inside of the furnace. Once a place of fire and fury, the most complete charcoal-fuelled ironworks in Britain are now tranquil. Step inside the stone furnace complex and storage buildings of this pioneering 18th century site and discover the Highlands' role in the Industrial Revolution. The furnace only ceased firing in 1870. 1 Apr to 31 May Tuesday to Thursday, 9.30am to last entry at 4pm (closes 5pm) Friday to Monday, grounds accessible but no visitor facilities. 1 Jun to 30 Sept: Daily, 9.30am to last entry at 4pm (closes 5pm) 1 Oct to 31 Mar: Closed
