Access
There are a number of lifts that are required to reach each platform. One lift takes you from street-level to the ticket barrier level. Once you are through the ticket barriers, there are two more lifts. One goes to the Windrush line, platform 4, and the other goes to the Windrush line, platform 3, and the Jubilee line, both platforms. The lifts have tactile buttons and hearing loops but no other alternative formats. The flooring throughout the station is stone or tile paving. It’s very smooth and easy to navigate over, although it could get slippy in wet weather. There are also some seating options on the platforms. The Jubilee line has step-free access from train to street. This means that you can get off the train and travel up to street level without any steps. The Jubilee line has glass barriers and doors on each platform. These open at the same time as the doors of the train once it’s stopped at the platform. It means there’s no open access to the platforms when a train isn’t there. There are blue markers on the floor and on the relevant doors to show where the best point to board the train for step-free access. When boarding there is a very small gap between the train and the platform that should be manageable for most to navigate over. The Windrush line has step-free access from platform to street. This means that you’ll need to request assistance to board and disembark the train and once you’re off the train you’ll be able to leave the station via step-free routes. Boarding ramps can be requested from a member of staff or by using an information point on the platform. This platform doesn’t have the glass partition like the Jubilee line. This means there isn’t a barrier at the edge of the platform. Tactile paving is on the edge of the platform to mark where it is. There are some ticket machines available and also some small shops inside the station. The ticket barriers have one on each side that are wider for those that need a wider barrier.
