Overview
We visited this little museum whilst on holiday in the Scottish Borders. It is a lovely little town and the museum is in three sections, based on the Coldstream Guards, the history of the town, and a little art gallery.
Transport & Parking
We arrived by motorhome and were expecting parking to be tricky. We were hoping to park on the main road in town, and walk down but there were no parking cones everywhere. We ended up coming down to the museum area, which wasn't as narrow as we'd expected and luckily, we got street parking right outside. There is no car park though and I didn't see any blue badge parking, though I think you'd usually find a space.
Access
Entry to the museum is level, though the paving on the street was a bit uneven right outside by the dropped kerb. Once inside the museum, it's all on one level and a solid floor throughout. There was enough space for me in my wheelchair with my assitance dog, but it wasn't busy. If there'd been more people, it might have got tight.
Toilets
The accessible toilet is opposite the museum entrance. It was adequate but very dated and the door was heavy. It took me a while to find the light switch too, as it was way above my head. The room isn't very big and felt cluttered with bins. There wouldn't have been enough room to take my assistance dog in with me.
Staff
The lady on reception was lovely. She was very helpful and full of knowledge about the museum and the area.
