Overview
Much of the site is quite steep but what we did was enjoyable - good visitor centre and tea room too. Didn't go in the house so can't comment on its accessibility.
Transport & Parking
There are Blue Badge spaces at the top of the formal garden plus at the visitor centre. Can't comment on public transport though shouldn't think this is on a main bus route being some way out of Rothbury.
Access
I managed most of the formal garden though my electric power trike struggled coming back up the hill - not really suitable for a manual wheelchair. Someone with walking difficulties might find the steep path in/out rather difficult. We did some paths in the gorge below the house but again v steep in places. My elderly in laws also found it rather slippery underfoot. Round the first lake was manageable and pleasant. Visitor centre and tea rooms v accessible.
Toilets
Located in the visitor centre complex - it was well equipped and clean. Though a bit snug, there was enough room to manoeuvre a wheelchair with a few turns. No radar key needed.
Staff
Staff on the gate provided directions and guidance on best place to park and what to access from where.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
There is free admission for an essential carer. Just as well as admission to the grounds alone is expensive (£10.70 in 2015) given disabled people can't access most of the grounds.
