Overview

I’ve been to four places so far with tracking hoist, wet room etc but with Crathie I find it’s a beautiful set place looking out on the river Dee with birds, rabbits galore. The homely feel and helpful friendly volunteers and management make me feel truly cared for without being overly intrusive in my stays. The volunteer coffee mornings on a Wednesday are a lovely way to meet guests in the other 3 cottages. I also had a medical situation and the Braemar Gp was extremely helpful and surprisingly easy to contact.

Transport & Parking

I’ve my own wheelchair accessible vehicle and there is ample parking within the gates.

Access

There’s a slight ramp to get in Gelder Cottage. First time I’ve tried this one and I’ll definitely book again here. Amazing outlook with bird feeders and bench for my friends and family to sit. All areas including garden room where the coffee mornings are held, laundry, bbq area and children’s park I managed in my power chair.

Toilets

There was a toilet with grab rail, tracking hoist and shower stretcher. Clean and tidy with more than enough room for two people assisting me with my personal care.

Staff

Maggie is friendly, helpful and welcoming as a manager. The housekeepers were both very helpful and all the volunteers who did gardening, coffee morning on Wednesdays friendly and welcoming.
