Overview
We visited a temporary exhibition of Scottish art but there are various temporary exhibitions as advertised on the East Lothian website as well as information about local history.
Transport & Parking
There is on- street parking along the High Street where the museum is situated. Cars park diagonally at the side of the road and I'm not aware of any Blue Badge spaces.
Access
There is a permanent ramp to enter and the exhibition space is all level. Automatic doors at the front make entry very easy and the doors to the galleries are wide, The gallery to the left of the door has some seating. Local history is shown in the room to the right. Both rooms, though fairly small, had space to move around easily. The upper floors can be reached via a lift.
Toilets
The toilet is a generous size with plenty of room for a wheelchair user and assistant. Although it is also the baby change area, the baby changing platform is well out of the way. There are horizontal grab rails on each side, one drop down and one wall mounted. The red cord hangs to the floor (with a Euan's Guide card attached.) The only slight drawback is a fairly heavy door between the entrance hall and the corridor with the toilet.
Staff
Very helpful and keen to give accessibility information and take feedback.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Immediately outside is a statue of John Muir who was born in Dunbar. The High Street is flat with wide pavements for easy wheeling. Some shops have steps but many are step free.
