Overview
Dunville Park is a pleasant public park where I stopped for a breather on my trip to the Peace Wall, which is just under a mile away on foot. The park is named after Robert G. Dunville, who donated it to residents in 1891 on behalf of his family. The Dunvilles were known for their distillery on Grosvenor Road, which produced Dunville Irish Whiskey. Another notable feature of the park is a statue of Olympic boxer John Caldwell. With a play park, a coffee kiosk and plenty of seating, it's a nice space to take a break – just be aware that it's on a bit of a hill.
Transport & Parking
The closest bus stop is just outside the Grosvenor Road entrance, where the 10K and 10M services operate. Parking is available at the football pitches, though there are only three standard spaces and one accessible parking space. While I'd love to see more parking options, this feels appropriate for the park's small size.
Access
Each entrance has a gate, which is kept open during the day and closed at different times throughout the year. The gates provide enough space for most mobility devices, and while the park is on an incline, it is step-free with smooth tarmac throughout. If entering via Grosvenor Street, you'll find its level at first, but the route up to the play park and Falls Road entrance is a gradual incline – which was a bit of work for this manual wheelchair user. There are no alternative formats in use at this location.
Toilets
I didn't spot any toilets at this location.
