Great day out as Fort George was mostly accessible

Overview
We turned up at Fort George and I had my small mobility scooter, which was better suited to going round Sainsburys than a giant fort. However, they offered me a range of bigger scooters, so I chose a large Pride scooter, which was much more comfortable and better suited to getting around the fort.
Transport & Parking
We were staying near Forres, so we didn't have far to travel. There is a large open parking area close to the entrance, with only a few vehicles already parked up. We built my small scooter and headed into the fort. It was a bit bumpy due to the cobbles and the wooden bridge at the entrance.
Access
Most of the fort was accessible, except for the ramparts. We looked around outside, but as it was raining we went indoors - the chapel, the small rooms showing films (these were built into the walls), the cafe, and the museum part where they show you how people lived in the barracks (soldiers and their families). All of this was easily accessible and I had no problems getting around. When the rain stopped, we went outside and investigated all of the fort - it is much bigger than I had expected it to be.
Toilets
I found toilets in the cafe and also toilets near some phone boxes. As I can walk a short distance, I wasn't aware of space in the toilet for a carer or for the scooter. The toilets I used were clean and spacious.
Staff
The staff were lovely and very helpful. As I said, they offered me a larger scooter to get around the fort.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The cafe was busy as it was cold and wet outside, so we got sandwiches, soup and snacks, which we took to an empty room showing a film about the fort. The sandwiches and soup were delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed our impromptu picnic. I would definitely recommend the cafe.
