Venue DescriptionHovertravel provides the fastest Isle Of Wight ferry service across the Solent and is the world's longest running and only commercial hovercraft operator in Europe. Started in 1965, our passenger ferry service takes you directly to the shore at Southsea or Ryde in just 10 minutes. Onward travel connections are available with National Express and Hover Bus connecting both Portsmouth & Southsea & Portsmouth Harbour rail stations.
Ryde & Southsea Terminal's : Terminal's both have ramp access and on a ground level, where staff are able to assist if required. Drop off zones are directly outside, along with a taxi rank outside the arrival/dept area. Services and assistance are also available for those with sight or/and hearing issues. Both terminals feature speakers and PA systems to help communicate information for those who suffer from sight related issues. Digital screens in the terminals and directional signs have been installed to help those hard of hearing to travel with us as easily as possible. Additionally all our staff are fully trained to assist passengers with reduced mobility. Hovercraft : On-board both our 78 seater hovercraft we offer audio and visual communications, and our fully trained staff are on hand to help. Access to the hovercraft is via a ramp or steps (3), with and rails on both. Wide aisles on-board assist with the boarding process, as well as allocated seating for those who have reduced mobility. Safety videos with audio, subtitles and a deaf signer are shown before each crossing. Our hovercraft can accommodate one wheelchair per crossing, these are allocated on a first come first basis or you may reserve your space by contacting our HoverCare line (01983 717700).

Hovertravel is keeping the communities of the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth connected for all those who need to travel including key workers, and ensuring vital supplies of medicines and the Royal Mail continue to flow across the Solent. We are also transferring patients via our NHS Island Rescue. Booked Travel Only We are operating a revised timetable and customers must book their travel in advance online. Booking on our website is very simple, giving you the opportunity to choose your flight times, and avoid the busy times. Hovertravel customers with season or travelcards, as well as Wightlink and Red Funnel customers can book their flights using a simple form here. Face Coverings Customers are now obliged by law to wear a face covering at all times. Hover Responsibly Hovertravel applied a risk assessment, mitigation and management approach to creating a COVID-secure environment which allowed us to develop a set of precautionary protocols for the protection of our passengers and our staff. These protocols are displayed on posters throughout both our terminals and are on our website here. Travelling Protocols As the Government lifts some of the lockdown restrictions we are evolving our protocols to keep protecting our passengers and our people. There are important updates to our protocols, including the legal requirement to wear a face covering and the need for all travel to be booked. Please follow these instructions and Hover responsibly.
