Overview
The Library Centenary Square tram stop is right in the heart of Birmingham’s cultural hub, located close to The Exchange, the Library of Birmingham, and the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. There's a great concentration of accessible toilets and Changing Places toilets in the region too, which, whilst not being part of the stop, is a great thing.
Transport & Parking
The most convenient way to get here is, of course, by tram. If you’re arriving in Birmingham via New Street, you can hop on the tram right outside the station. Parking options aren't great in the area. There are some on-street spaces near the Central Gardens at the rear of the Library.
Access
The Library Centenary Square tram stop has two platforms with tactical edges, both with ramps on either side, providing level boarding for wheelchair users. There are designated areas for accessible boarding and shelters on both platforms. Ticket machines are located on platform two, and there’s no shortage of wooden benches along the platform. The ticket machine is at a good height for wheelchair users, but there’s no Braille on the panel or buttons, and no headphone jack is available. There’s a help point button with Braille markings and an operational induction loop. Tactile paving markings are found at the edges of the platforms, and there are traffic lights with tactile markings on both sides. This tram stop is conveniently situated right in front of The Exchange and across from The Library of Birmingham.
Toilets
If you need an accessible toilet or a Changing Places toilet, you're spoiled for choice. Both the exchange and the library have a Changing Places toilet, as well as several accessible toilets. Though the Exchange is a little more convenient.
