Overview
I stopped by this Esso site specifically to check out the EV chargers. As with a lot of charging spots, accessibility hasn’t really been considered, and some disabled folks might find them difficult to use. This location doesn’t seem to be listed on the fuelService app, unlike the other MFG on York Street, so if you’re travelling alone, you might need to ask for staff assistance at the kiosk or head to another site. This Esso is located in a nice residential area, so there isn't much within the immediate vicinity to occupy you as your car charges. It's worth noting that when I visited, the bays were just being used as parking spaces rather than for charging.
Transport & Parking
There are four EV charging bays at this location. The spaces are slightly wider than standard and have crosshatch markings at the front of the double bay. There’s crosshatching on one side of the left bay and one side of the right bay, which can give you enough space to fully open a door, depending on how you pull in. On the plus side, the chargers aren’t raised on a plinth or kerb, which is a common issue I’ve come across. The card reader can be reached from a seated position, which is another bonus. The cables are holstered low on the machine but don’t have support arms, and they may be heavy for some – I know they were for me. Each machine offers both 150kW CCS and 50kW CHAdeMO charging options.
Access
There is level access in the forecourt, but the kiosk has a manual door. I didn't notice any alternative signage in use.
Toilets
There are no toilets at this location.
