Historic palace with great access
Visit date:
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Walking Aid
Overview
Former summer residence of the King of Greece and birthplace of Prince Philip in 1921. The palace also houses a museum. There are extensive grounds.
Transport & Parking
Slightly outside Corfu Town centre but reachable by no 2 bus (April 2019). I took a taxi there and the taxi waited for me to return.
Access
The palace is in extensive grounds. From the entrance gates there is a drive with vehicle access to the palace. The path slopes upwards to the house. On arriving at the house there are steps or ramp to the entranceway. Inside there is a lift to the first floor, providing step free access, which you can operate independently without staff being present. Alternatively there is a staircase, with handrail on one side, see photo. There are some Roman objects and other artefacts on display.
Toilets
I didn't use the toilets while I was there. I think the website said there was an accessible toilet.
Staff
The staff at the entrance gate let our taxi through. At the palace there was a person on the ticket desk. I didn't see any staff while walking round the house.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The garden area is free, but there was an admission charge of about 4 euros to visit the palace.
