Overview
Nice Cote d’ Azur Airport is located on the western edge of Nice. It has two terminals. This review is for Terminal Two. There are scheduled flights from all the major European cities. This review is an update on my previous one and the first time flying since covid. The airport offers excellent step free access and Public Assistance.
Transport & Parking
The easiest way to get from/ to the airport is to use the tram. The tram is step free and has wheelchair spaces. There are two lines that go to the airport. Most tourist will use tram line 2 that goes from the airport to Port Lympia, as that line goes through Nice city centre. The other tram line 3 goes to Saint Isidore. The trams are very regular. TRAM TICKETS Tickets need to be purchased, from a machine, before boarding the tram and validated on a machine once you get on it, or if you have used one of the underground tram stations this happens when you go through the ticket barriers. One trip is valid for unlimited travel in the same direction for 74 minutes, so you can change tram lines to complete your journey if required. Since my last visit to Nice in 2019, the purchasing of tickets has changed slightly. There are now rechargeable cards called La Carte which currently cost 2 euros (December 2024) which you can buy at all the tram stops apart from the airport. Then you load your card with the number of journeys you want. One Le Carte can be used for multiple people travelling together and for this you tap the card (it makes a beep) once for each person at the start of the journey and if you are transferring you only tap in once. A single tram journey costs 1.70 euros (price December 2024). READ BEFORE PURCHASING TRAM TICKETS AT THE AIRPORT At the airport tram stops you can not purchase Le Carte. Instead the ticket machines only sell a return airport ticket for 10 euros (December 2024). I did what the excellent Best of Nice blog suggested on their tramways page: "The insider tip is to get off at Grand Arenas, the first tram stop outside the airport (the tram is free to Grand Arenas), where ticket machines (in English, takes cards and coins) offers all the options and you can get a rechargeable La Carte for 2€ and then each trip is only 1.70€, airport included, and the card can be used for multiple people. Or get a day or week pass which includes the airport." This suggestion worked well and if you have the time it might be worth while to do as you'll save money especially if there is a few of you. On your return journey to the airport there is not the option to get the 2 euro refund for your rechargeable card but it is still a cheaper option than buying a 10 euro return journey which costs 3.40 euros with the rechargeable card. Plus I wanted to keep my card so I can reuse it next time I go to Nice. I suggest if you are going to Nice look at the Best of Nice blog for up to date travel information. It's an excellent travel blog which has provided me with lots of fabulous ideas and tips for my holidays in Nice.
Access
There is step free access throughout the airport. On my outward journey I was met by Passenger Assistance and was taken directly through the airport to the tram stop. On my return journey I took the lift to the first floor departures, at terminal Two. Initially I was a little lost about where the Passenger Assistance was pre-check in. I must have followed a sign (sorry my fault for writing this two months after my trip). There is a seating area with a call point for Passenger Assistance. It was opposite a chemist, see photos. The call point has various disability symbols on it and there is a message in French and English which says "If you need PRM assistance service push the button" PRM stands for Person with Reduced Mobility but the service covers all disabilities. I was quickly connected to someone who spoke English and there was a very short wait (about 5 minutes) before someone met me with a wheelchair and took me through check in and airport security. At my request I went to the gate and I did not check out any of the airport's facilities. When we were ready to board I was taken directly onto the plane from the gate without having to go outside.
Toilets
There are accessible toilets with handrails on one side, which is per usual in France. They are spacious and clean. I used the one nearest my departure gate. Sorry I forgot to take a photo.
Staff
Staff were excellent. Someone from Passenger Assistance was waiting for me when I disembarked the plane with a wheelchair and escorted me through the airport to the tram stop. On the return journey, staff met me at the Passenger Assistance point checked in my luggage and took me to my gate. Then someone came to me to help me board. Staff were friendly and helpful. They spoke excellent English and explained to me what was happening.

This was another excellent experience at Nice Airport. Very happy and feel very comfortable using this airport. Would recommend and plan to use it again in the future.
