Overview
We enjoyed our visit overall. However, if you need to use a wheelchair or disabled scooter, read on ! Onto the wildlife park, it was well laid out. It's much bigger than you think from the entrance. The animals seemed very well cared for. There were a lot of staff looking after them, who really seemed to care. We felt a bit sorry for the elephant, who looked a bit lonely. And the sea-lions swimming round in their pool looked a bit constricted. The sea-lion show is currrently cancelled due to renovtions, so no "tricks". Maybe this was for the best ? We paid 35 Euros each, as 2 people over 60, which I think is probably reasonable. No sign of reduction for a carer, sadly. We bought a bag of food for 5 Euros, and found the camels prefer the leaves, and the giraffes prefer the carrot ☺ The staff in the main are very friendly, and willing to help and offer advice. We spent about 3 and a half hours going round the park, and we think we saw nearly everything. That should give an idea about how long you need to allow for. Overall, we were pleased we went. Now, the disabled bit. If you need to use a wheelchair or disabled persons scooter, as I do, it is my opinion that it is too difficult. The park is on solid compacted earth, which in the main is in good condition, but with some very big "rivulets" creating gaps and an uneven surface in parts. The main downside is how steep some of the hills are. They are steep. I would never have got up in my own scooter. The good news is they do have their own "tramper" scooters - these did manage OK (although it wasn't always easy for that). They cost 25 Euros to hire, with a 100 Euro refundable deposit. I think they have 6 of them. We didn't book one in advance, but we were lucky, and they had one available. It might be worth booking one ahead though, if that is possible. There are disabled toilets around the park. They're not great - you can't get in many of them on the scooter, so you have to be able to walk a bit. We came across one that you could "drive" into, but I can't remember more than that. Certainly the ones near the entrance, you have to park and walk in (it's maybe 15 metres). One good thing was when we drove into the disabled car park, a member of staff came straight out to check we had disabled parking badges. I think that's excellent that they "police" it. You are able to watch the tropical birds and reptiles show, on your scooter, from the back of the auditorium seating (although it is a steep incline to get there). We went round the cactus garden, and this is largely accessible. Some paths are not, but are clearly marked as such, with accessible alternatives marked. We didn't use either of the restaurants, so can't really comment on access in these.
Transport & Parking
Disabled car park, with compacted earth surface. As soon as we drove in to the car park, a member of staff came out to check we had disabled car park badges. I think that's excellent that it's policed. As somebody who gets upset daily, at people parking in disabled spaces without displaying any badges, I am pleased they do this.
Access
There is one of the windows at the entrance that says it is for disabled visitors - but it is at the same height as the other windows !! The man serving though was excellent - polite, friendly, helpful. There are some very steep hills though. My opinion is that you need a "tramper" type scooter, rather than an every day one. And for somebody pushing a manual wheelchair, it would be very difficult. My score is based on my experience having hired one of their tramper scooters. If I had tried to use my own scooter, my score would be zero. My opinion is that the park is not accessible to a manual wheelchair or everyday disabled scooter. Just my opinion though.
Toilets
There are disabled toilets throughout the park. However, very few of them are accessible to a large scooter. In fact, the lady who helped us at the entrance with the hire of their tramper scooter, actually said you will need to walk into the disabled toilets ! That begs the question why I need to use a scooter ? !! I guess it's about a 15 metre walk. There was one disabled toilet that I could drive into, but I can't remember more than that. There are 4 or 5 others though, if you can walk a little.
Staff
Yeah, in the main they were very good. Several staff members offered us help during the time we were there. Especially the ones in a customer service type role. Can't complain really about the treatment I got.
