Overview
While the car park is named after the main street in the area, the pedestrian entrance is on Little Queen Street, the car entrance on Castle Street. There are 2 Type 2 22kW chargers without an integrated cable. They are on the RAW Charging network and support contactless.
Transport & Parking
The car park is on the western edge of the city centre, between two bus stops on Wellington Street, a 15-minute walk from the station and main shopping area. The area seems mostly focused on offices. There is some on-street parking, for example on Queen Street.
Access
The doors are non-automatic double doors. Opening only one door was not wide enough for my powerchair (62 cm), so I had to open both of the fairly heavy doors. The car park is set up in such a way that there are half levels on the western side which are only served by a stairwell, not lifts. The pedestrian entrance and lifts only take you to the eastern levels. There are steps beside the ramps between levels for pedestrians. I was visiting in my powerchair, so even three or four steps were not an option for me. It was quiet and visibility was pretty good, so I felt safe enough to take the ramp intended for cars, but this is obviously not ideal. There are drains running along the floor that you have to cross on your way to the stairwell. They are not particularly deep, but the edges are straight down, so watch out for these trip hazards. The lift doors are quite narrow and the lifts are only a little larger on the inside. There is Braille to let you know which level you are on, but none inside the lift. The lifts have a mirror and handrail on the back wall. The screen on the ticket machine is very high up, but the card terminal is at an easy-to-reach level. Unfortunately, the electric vehicle charging point are on a half level without a lift (half a level up from the attendant's office). There are three bays in the area with the electric vehicle charging point, but only one terminal with a total of two sockets. The terminal is mounted to the back wall between the middle and right parking space and there are moveable signs reserving the left and middle bay for EV charging. While the individual bays would not leave a lot of space around the car, I can imagine that with the spare third bay two cars could park in the space with enough space for a wheelchair user to still exit and access the charging point. The terminal is at a good height to reach from a seated position.
