Overview
I was lucky with absolutely beautiful weather when I visited this park. It's clearly well-maintained and a popular place to go, especially when the sun is out! There's an extremely tall monument in the centre of the park and there are some signs about the statue at the top of it.
Transport & Parking
There is a tram stop that is directly outside the park on the St Andrew Square side. Edinburgh Waverley Train Station and Edinburgh Bus Station are also really short walks away. There are a number of bus stops nearby with a lot of bus routes available. There was limited parking available on the streets to the north and south of the park. On the street to the south, there were some limited disabled parking spots on the street. To the north, there were a number of standard, pay-and-display parking spots. There was also a taxi rank to the south of the park.
Access
There were three entrances to the park, one each to the east and west sides of the park and one at the south-west corner. The entrance on the west side of the park led onto George Street and had two steps just inside the gate. The other two entrances were completely flat. There was a small Costa Coffee kiosk in the park, the kiosk itself was enclosed and under cover. There were a few tables with stools outside of the kiosk to sit on, these weren't under cover but they did have large, fabric umbrellas that could be put up. The stools were moveable so could be moved to make space for a wheelchair. There was a circular path in the middle of the park that connected to all the entrances. Around the edge of the circular path there were lots of concrete benches for people to sit on. The path was very flat with very few bumps or gaps between the paving stones. There was a sign at all the entrances which said that only no dogs were allowed inside the park apart from guide dogs. There was a public defibrillator in the park however it was behind a small wall and by the gate with two steps so it would only really be accessible by someone able-bodied.
Toilets
There are no toilets in the park but there is an accessible toilet inside Edinburgh Bus Station which is close by.
