Difficult for wheelchair users but not impossible. New

This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Mobility Scooter
Overview
I have been here many times but, because I can walk short distances without anything like crutches, walking frame etc, I haven't had trouble myself. I leave my mobility scooter outside as it is too big to manouvere inside.
Transport & Parking
There is no car park. There is on road parking but it is always very busy. There is a bus service but I don;t know how frequent it is.
Access
There is level access. Once inside the corridor is very narrow. A standard width wheelchair would be fine but anything larger might have difficulty. Once inside the space up to the counter where you have to order food and drink is narrow and there are often long queues so this presents difficulties. If you have a non-disabled person with you and they can order there is a large seated area to the right which is accessible.
Toilets
There is one toilet labelled as accessible but the doors to the men's and women's loos are at 90 degrees either side of it. They are off the narrow entrance corridor so may pose difficulties. No grab rails. I can't remember whether there is any way to summon assistance. It's basically a toilet cubicle that disabled people can use if they can get into and out of it. It's not wide enough to accommodate a helper.
Staff
Staff are always helpful if anyone needs help but as someone who is ambulant I don;t know how they would help a disabled person who had any kind of difficulty. I think the building has been there for a long time and has been made as accessible as possible but more is needed to make it completely accessible.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
This is any other info, not about Covid precautions. If you want a hot drink I recommend Jivey's, the van that parks between the lake and the wild garden. The drinks are cheaper and the decaff coffee is much nicer. It's takeaway only and they tend to close around 3.30 or sometimes earlier. Roath Park has accessible toilets on either side of the promenade.
