Venue DescriptionThe museum galleries, café and gift shop are temporarily closed for a £4m refurbishment. Our plans include brand new and updated exhibitions and improved facilities. During this temporary closure we’ll be heading out on the road in our Emergency Museum, delivering fun activities at a festival near you – watch this space for further updates. During this temporary closure, the museum conference centre and pay and display car park remain open as normal. The best way to keep up to date with all our news is to join our mailing list or keep an eye on social media. The project is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Arts Council England, Wellcome Trust, Thackray Medical Research Trust, Wolfson Foundation, Garfield Weston Foundation, Foyle Foundation, Leeds Inspired part of Leeds City Council, Yorkshire Ambulance Service Charity and others.
We have a level access toilet and lift to all floors. The galleries have hearing loops and many of our displays are interactive and can be touched and handled. Written versions of spoken displays are available. The Museum is accessible throughout to disabled visitors and there is plenty of seating on the way round. Guide dogs are welcome and wheelchairs are available for loan free of charge. If you need to make any special arrangements for your visit, or would like to book a wheelchair, please telephone 0113 244 4343.
